More milestones
OK, Aiden's first official word is "mom". Joe and Mindy babysat him tonight and when I went to go pick him up, he was tired and wanted his mom - so he said "mom". Mindy said he had been saying it all night, but neither of us recall him saying it before today. Dawn said she has heard "ma" a few times, but this is a first with mom.

City Council and Stuff
On Wednesday night I was appointed to the Talent City Council. So I am now Councilor Watson. I know many of you may be shocked, but I have been thinking about this for a while now. I am very excited and I get sworn in at the next meeting on July 16th.

Now onto the topic of Aiden saying “Mom”. It has almost been a week and I have not heard him say it. He does babble “mamama” every once in a while, however his favorite this week is “dadada”. He does not yet know what he is saying but his Dad like the sound of it anyways.

We went to my Mom’s in Brooking for the 4th. Darin, Julie and the boys were also visiting. We watched the fireworks at my Mom’s friend Faye’s house. It was nice and not as loud there. Aiden enjoyed them for about 15 minutes and then decided that was enough and he was ready for bed.

On Thursday night at Mom’s I went to give Aiden a bath and Darrik asked if he could take one with Aiden. I said sure, that he hasn’t had a bath with anyone yet. They had lots of fun. Darrik helped approve the bath toys and also helped wash Aiden’s back. Aiden uses a bear sponge he lays on when I rinse out his hair and wash his legs and butt. When Aiden got out Darrik asked if he could try out Aiden’s sponge. I don’t think it worked so well since he didn’t borrow it again.

We also did some geocaching on our 4th of July trip. We have some cute pictures of Aiden. Hopefully Richard will get a chance this week to post them.

Last night we went to dinner at Standing Stone. I was drinking a root beer and Aiden wanted to try to drink out of my straw. I told Richard that Aiden couldn’t suck through a straw. I barely got the words out when he got a mouth full of root beer. Boy did all of our eyes get big. After the initial shock Aiden wanted more so he must have liked it. I’m sure it tasted better than the other things he has drank which are breast milk and water.

Aiden at the coast.

Aiden checks out some coastal flora.

Temporarily distracted by other bits of plantlife.

This is a rather crude attempt at being artsy with a pic.

Does Aiden say Daddy?!?!?
Well, this seems to be a question so I've pieced together about 10 seconds of video showing him saying Daddy or "dadadada". You can decide. Here it is and it is about 715KB (should take about 2 minutes if you are on dialup).
